Men’s Basketball Falls 74–61 behind Fort Hays State offensive showcase

ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Men's Basketball (12-6, 4-3 MIAA) dropped an MIAA matchup on Thursday, falling 74–61 to Fort Hays State (12-4, 4-3 MIAA) inside the Looney Complex.

Fort Hays State controlled the early momentum, building a 28–7 cushion midway through the first half. MWSU was unable to establish rhythm offensively, shooting 37.93 percent before the break, while the Tigers shot 59.26 percent to take a 38–27 lead into halftime.

The Tigers continued to apply pressure after halftime, building their largest lead of the contest at 69–45 with 6:35 remaining before closing out a 74–61 win.

Marko Pavlovic paced the Griffons with 15 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor. He added four rebounds and an assist while going 1-of-2 at the free-throw line.

Noah King finished with 11 points on 3-of-14 shooting, knocking down 5-of-6 attempts at the free-throw line. He contributed three rebounds and three assists.

Ty Henry added 10 points in 35 minutes, connecting on 4-of-7 shots from the field, including 2-of-5 from three-point range. He also recorded four rebounds, three assists, and a block.

Gavin Hershberger chipped in eight points on 4-of-8 shooting, while stuffing the stat sheet with three rebounds, two assists, and a game-high five steals.

MoWest finished the game shooting 42.1% from the field (24-of-57). The Griffons connected on 11.8% from three-point range (2-of-17) and went 11-of-15 at the free-throw line for a 73.3%.

Fort Hays closed the game shooting 56.6% from the field (30-of-53), while connecting on 53.8% from three-point range (7-of-13). The Tigers were perfect at the free-throw line, finishing 7-for-7 for 100%.

Griffon Men's Basketball will close its four-game homestand on Saturday, Jan. 17, hosting Nebraska Kearney in MIAA action with a 3:30 p.m. tipoff inside the Looney Complex.
