ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Aidyn Woodall's first goal of the season in the 14
th minute proved to be the decider in Griffon soccer's 1-0 win over Northern State on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Spratt Stadium.
Woodall's goal, a header from just a few yards out, came off the header and assist from
Kaari Little.
The Griffons fired off shots all day, 23 total with 11 on goal, but Northern (0-2) held MoWest (2-0) off the board the rest of the way.
Defensively, it was another dominant effort for the Griffs, who held the Wolves to just four total shots.
Morgan Byrd scored her second career win as keeper, playing the full 90 minutes and recording three saves.
Nicoletta Froehlich and
Brookelyn Buttolph played the full 90 minutes on defense.
Rosemary Pujado took a team-high three shots and two shots-on-goal.
Ava Smith also had three shots with one on goal.
MoWest, winners of 13 straight matches at home, now begin a four-match road trip on Tuesday, taking on another NSIC member school in Wayne State (0-0-1).
Tuesday's match from Wayne, Nebraska starts at 5 pm.
