LIBERTY, Mo. – Griffon Soccer (4-0-1) rolled to a 5-0 win at William Jewell (0-2-2) on Tuesday night at Greene Stadium in Liberty.
The match started two hours late due to thunderstorms in the area.
MoWest wasted little time taking control. Nicholetta Froehlich scored her third career goal and her first of the season in the 11
th minute off of an assist from
Kendall Knisley.
Knisley then cashed in her first goal of the season and the 11
th of her career in the 15
th minute off of an assist by
Maddy Harmon.
The Griffs added one more before halftime –
Aidyn Woodall scored her team-leading third goal of the season off of an assist by
Sydney Hammett, giving MoWest a 3-0 lead at the break.
MoWest kept rolling in the second half.
Camrin Peaslee got her first goal of the season and the sixth of her career in the 55
th minute on an unassisted shot.
Kiara Carr added one more goal for good measure in the 74
th minute off of the assist of fellow first-year Griffon
Emily Crosby.
The Griffs dominated offensively, outshooting the Cardinals 20-4, including 8-1 in shots-on-goal.
Morgan Byrd played the first half in goal and recorded a save.
Katie Stoskopf played the entire second half in goal in her first appearance of the season.
MoWest is off until Friday, September 26. That'll be the MIAA-opening match against Rogers State. That match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
