Lacrosse shuts down Quincy in first conference match of 2025

Griffons now 4-0 against Quincy in St. Joseph all-time, 5-1 against the Hawks overall.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western lacrosse (6-4, 1-0 GLVC) opened conference play with an 18-11 decision over the Quincy Hawks on a cool, blustery Saturday at Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph.

Missouri Western overcame an early 1-0 deficit with four unanswered goals in the first quarter, and the Griffons never looked back, scoring a minimum of four goals in every quarter of the match.

Leading 9-7 at halftime, Missouri Western took control after the break, outscoring Quincy 9-4 in the second half.

Sam Pruitt led the scoring with a season-best six goals – the most she's ever scored against a GLVC opponent. She also had four groundballs.

Caetryn Gilreath posted a new career-high five goals, taking a team-high eight shots on goal.

Ryann Durrett earned a hat trick with three first half goals to go with two assists. Clare Sondrall scored two goals, while Maddie Chidester and Maleah Sosa each added one.

Jessica Brook led the Griffs with five assists, which now gives her a new single-season program record of 25 assists thus far in 2025.

In cage, Ava Garaway (5-4) tied a career-high with 13 saves.

Maddie Chidester set a new career-high with 12 draw controls – one shy of tying a program record. Jordan Porter caused three turnovers and had two assists.

Missouri Western resumes GLVC play when they head to Kansas City to play Rockhurst. That match is set to start at 5 p.m.
