INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri Western lacrosse (9-7, 4-3 GLVC) lost its regular season finale at No. 8 UIndy on Sunday at Key Stadium in Indianapolis.
The Griffons hung in early, trailing 7-4 at halftime. The Greyhounds went on to score 13 second half goals, including nine in the third quarter, to pull away for their fourth straight win overall.
UIndy out performed Missouri Western in draw controls 19-12. The Griffs were also just 7-of-19 on clear attempts.
Sam Pruitt led the scoring for the Griffs with three goals. She also led with three draw controls.
Caetryn Gilreath and
Maddie Chidester each scored two goals, while
Brooke Tjernlund had one.
Grace Williams had five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Ava Garaway finished with seven saves in cage.
Missouri Western now awaits the official release of the GLVC tournament.
The Griffons, who have secured a spot in the tournament for a third straight season, will be the No. 4 seed and will play No. 1 seed Maryville in the first round on Friday, May 2 at a time to be announced.
Maryville, the No. 1 seed, will host the tournament May 2-4.
