ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western baseball (13-28, 11-19 MIAA) will conclude its 2025 regular season home schedule with a weekend series against the 17th-ranked Pittsburg State Gorillas (33-9, 21-9 MIAA) at the Spring Sports Complex.
The three-game series will begin on Friday at 6:00 p.m., with game two on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and the finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. There is a chance of inclement weather in this weekend's forecast. Stay tuned for any schedule changes and updates at

The Griffons are currently in the 10th and final position in the MIAA standings as they approach their last two series of the season. They hold a one-game lead over Northeastern State, who will face No. 3 Central Missouri this weekend, followed by a match against Missouri Southern next. NSU holds the tiebreaker.
TOP GRIFFON PERFORMERS
Frank Gall has been a key player for the Griffons' offense this season. The local standout leads the team with 44 hits, which include seven triples, five home runs and five doubles. His seven triples are the highest in the MIAA and rank fourth in the nation. Furthermore, he is the team leader in stolen bases and is second in the MIAA with 21.
Taggart has also been a key contributor to the Griffon offense this season, showcasing an impressive slash line of .312/.391/.488. He is second on the team with 39 hits and leads the lineup with 27 RBIs, while also scoring 21 runs. The right fielder has recorded 13 extra-base hits, including seven doubles, three home runs and two triples.
Doan has been on fire lately, entering the week with a nine-game hitting streak and boasting an impressive .374 batting average along with a .475 on-base percentage. In addition, Robertson has tallied 12 doubles, while
Blake Venneman leads the team with 22 walks.
Freshman
Colby Deaver (3-5) is finding his rhythm on the mound, gradually lowering his earned run average (ERA) to 5.13 while maintaining a WHIP of 1.27. The Blue Springs native leads the team with 54.1 innings pitched, achieving 34 strikeouts and allowing just 14 walks.
Logan Winkelman (1-3) and
Lynden Bruegman (2-5) lead the pitching staff with 53 strikeouts from the starting rotation.
Jayson Shorb (2-3) has proven to be a dependable reliever, leading the bullpen with 20 strikeouts over 22.2 innings pitched.

Jacob Ross have all been consistent contributors from the MoWest pen.
ABOUT PITTSBURG STATE
Pitt State finished the 2024 campaign with a 34-18 (22-11 MIAA) record and was picked to finish third with 120 points in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. They claimed all three games against the Griffs last season in Kansas.
Despite suffering a 12-9 loss to Missouri Southern in their midweek matchup, the Gorillas (33-9, 21-9 MIAA) are entering the series with momentum, having won 15 of their last 17 games. They currently hold third spot in the conference standings and have successfully claimed MIAA series victories against Emporia State, Northwest, Northeastern State, Missouri Southern, Newman, Rogers State and Washburn.
Junior Dagen Brewer is a player to watch for the Gorillas. The Topeka, Kansas, native has a slash of .365/.444/.833 with 50 hits, 63 RBIs (2nd-MIAA), 42 runs and 17 walks. His 19 home runs are tied for the second-most in the MIAA.
A pitcher to watch for Pitt is righty Kolby Dougan (7-0). The senior heads into the week with an ERA of 2.03 and a WHIP of .77. He has collected a conference-leading 102 strikeouts and has walked only 16 batters in 62.0 innings of work.
