LIBERTY, Mo. - Griffon lacrosse (7-5, 2-1 GLVC) survived a late scare in the 11-10 victory over William Jewell (6-7, 1-2 GLVC) on the road Sunday afternoon.

The Griffons dominated the first quarter, jumping out to a 7-0 lead and establishing early momentum. William Jewell fought back with three goals in the second quarter, but MoWest maintained an 8-3 advantage at halftime.

The Griffons out shot the Cardinals 20-11 in the first half, with 15 of those shots on goal.
Jordan Porter and
Brooke Tjernlund each scored two goals, while
Jessica Brook contributed with three assists.

In the second half, WJC, led by Olivia Fornelli's impressive seven-point performance, made a strong push. The Cardinals scored four goals in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 10-10 with 4:31 left in regulation. However, senior
Sam Pruitt netted the game-winning goal unassisted with under three minutes remaining to lift the Griffs to the one-goal victory.

Pruitt led the Western offense with four points after collecting two goals and two assists.
Jordan Porter also shined, firing off six shots on goal and tallying four caused turnovers.

Ava Garaway (7-5) picked up the win in the cage with 11 saves. Claire Eastwood was charged with the loss.

MoWest will return to action on Thursday against fifth-ranked Maryville. The opening draw from Spratt Stadium is set for 5:00 p.m.
