ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western lacrosse (6-4, 1-0 GLVC) will hit the road for the first time in GLVC play this weekend to take on in-state rivals Rockhurst (9-1, 1-0 GLVC) and William Jewell (5-6, 0-1 GLVC).
Competition will begin against the Hawks on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Bourke Field in Kansas City, Missouri. It will conclude on Sunday against the Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. from the Soccer/Lacrosse Field in Liberty, Missouri.

Senior
Sam Pruitt leads the team with 51 points. Her average of 5.10 points per game ranks fifth in the GLVC. This season, she has scored 33 goals and provided 18 assists across 10 games. Furthermore, the Ellisville native has accumulated 23 ground balls, 15 draw controls, and 12 caused turnovers.
Junior
Caetryn Gilreath leads the team with 38 goals this season, ranking 7th in the GLVC. She has also provided two assists, resulting in 40 points. The Lowell, Massachusetts native has also tallied 17 ground balls, caused six turnovers and earned six draw controls for the Griffs.
Junior
Jessica Brook leads the team with 24 assists this season, and her 2.40 assists per game rank second in the GLVC. The native of Savage, Minnesota, broke the school record in single-game assists earlier this season with seven against CSU-Pueblo.
Senior
Grace Williams has played a crucial role in the Western defense, achieving an outstanding 21 caused turnovers (2nd-GLVC). Sophomore
Brooke Tjernlund has also made her mark by generating 16 turnovers this season. Moreover, sophomore
Jordan Porter has gathered 23 ground balls, while freshman
Maddie Chidester leads the team with 31 draw controls.
Goalie
Ava Garaway (6-4) heads into the week with a goals-against average of 11.12. This sophomore has collected 92 saves (3rd-GLVC) and leads the team with 24 ground balls across 10 starts in the 2025 season.
ABOUT THE HAWKS
Rockhurst concluded 2024 with a record of 9-7 (3-4 GLVC) and was projected to finish fourth in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 30 points. After suffering narrow defeats in their first three matchups, the Griffons secured their first victory over the Hawks with a decisive 19-9 win at Spratt Stadium on April 19.
The Hawks have opened the 2025 campaign strong with a 9-1 record, including a 13-4 victory over William Jewell last Thursday at home. They also have notable wins over Colorado-Mesa (16-14), Concordia-St. Paul (14-10) and Dominican (18-8).
Elise Magee, a junior attacker, leads the team with 36 points. The Canadian has scored 31 goals and recorded five assists. She has also tallied 23 draw controls, 11 ground balls, and 10 caused turnovers.
In the cage for Rockhurst, senior Mae Beins (9-1) heads into the week with a goals-against average of 7.65. She has made 59 saves and collected 26 ground balls.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
William Jewell finished 2024 with a record of 1-14 (0-7 GLVC) in its inaugural season, and was picked eighth with seven points in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Western claimed a 17-5 victory in Liberty and an 18-5 victory in St. Joseph.
The Cardinals have had a much better start in season two, accumulating a 5-6 record, including a win over McKendree (17-13) on March 29. They head into the week with back-to-back losses to Dominican (13-4) and Rockhurst (13-4).
Junior attacker Olivia Fornelli is a standout player for WJC. She leads the team with 56 points, including 27 goals and 29 assists. The Kansas City native has also recorded 25 ground balls, nine caused turnovers, and 54 draw controls.
Freshman goalkeeper Claire Eastwood (2-4) has a goals-against average of 12.13 heading into the weekend. The Lexington, South Carolina, native has recorded 74 saves and 21 ground balls.
