KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Griffon Soccer has drawn the No. 4 seed in the MIAA tournament, earning the right to host No. 5 seed Northwest Missouri State in quarterfinals on Sunday, November 9 at Spratt Stadium.
The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
MoWest earned a critical win at Northwest on Wednesday in the regular season finale, topping the Bearcats in Maryville, 1-0. The Griffons and Bearcats each finished the regular season with 22 points in the conference standings, but MWSU's victory in the head-to-head matchup was the tiebreaker.
The Griffons are also ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA Central Region Rankings, which were put out on Wednesday.
Sunday marks the 36
th all-time meeting with Northwest on the pitch but the first ever between the two rivals in the MIAA tournament. The Bearcats lead the all-time series 17-11-7, but MoWest has won each of the last two meetings.
MIAA tournament semifinals are slated for Thursday, November 13 at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas, with the championship set for Saturday, November 15 at the same venue.
