No. 16 Griffon Volleyball enters final week of regular season on 11 match win streak, pursuing MIAA crown

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — No. 16 Griffon Volleyball (20-5, 12-2 MIAA) wraps up the regular season with a two-match road trip through Kansas and Nebraska, taking on Fort Hays State on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Hays, Kansas, before facing No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney on Friday at 7 p.m. in Kearney, Nebraska.

Riding an 11-match win streak, MoWest enters the final week as one of the hottest teams in the nation. Holding a 12–2 MIAA record and a 20–5 mark overall, the Griffons sit alone atop the conference standings with a one-match lead over a crowded field that includes No. 7 Central Oklahoma, No. 5 Nebraska Kearney, No. 8 Washburn and No. 24 Emporia State all tied for second place at 11–3.

With two matches remaining, MoWest controls its own destiny; win out, and the Griffons would capture the MIAA regular season championship outright. Even one victory would clinch at least a share of the MIAA regular season title for the first time since 2017.

The last loss MoWest has taken was against Nebraska-Kearney in St. Joseph back on Oct. 3, when the Lopers won a five-set nailbiter. Meanwhile, MoWest swept Fort Hays State the very next day in straight sets on Oct. 4.
