Griffons record fifth shutout of the season in draw with Central Oklahoma

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Soccer (5-0-3, 1-0-2 MIAA) capped off Homecoming Weekend at MoWest with a Sunday matchup against Central Oklahoma (2-4-4, 0-2-2 MIAA), ending in a hard-fought 0-0 draw. The result secured the Griffons' fifth shutout of the year and extended their unbeaten streak at Spratt Stadium to 15 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

In the opening half, MoWest dictated the tempo and maintained steady possession, out shooting the Bronchos 7-2 while generating four shots on goal. The Griffons forced multiple key saves from UCO's keeper and allowed just one on the defensive end. Each team earned a pair of corner kicks, but the Griffons kept the majority of the action in the attacking third.

In the second half, play evened out as UCO tightened its defensive shape and pushed forward more frequently. Each side produced three corner kicks combined, but MWSU continued to hold the edge in total shots, finishing with 10 compared to UCO's 4.

Neither team could find the breakthrough, as strong defensive play and steady goalkeeping on both ends sealed a 0-0 draw to close out the match.
