ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Soccer closed out the weekend in winning fashion, defeating Fort Hays State 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Spratt Stadium. With the victory, the Griffons improved to (8-1-3, 4-1-2 MIAA) while the Tigers dropped to (3-9-1,1-6-1).
The decisive moment came in the 22nd minute when
Kendall Knisley scored her fourth goal of the season, finishing a perfectly placed assist from
Rachyl Benavides. The early strike proved to be enough, as the Griffon defense remained solid the rest of the way.
MoWest controlled possession throughout the match, out shooting Fort Hays State 14-9, including a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Griffons also held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks, maintaining consistent pressure in the attacking third.
In goal,
Morgan Byrd delivered another standout performance, recording a career-high seven saves to preserve the shutout. Her eighth clean sheet of the season.
With the win, the Griffons extended their home unbeaten streak to 16-0-1 at Spratt Stadium dating back to last season.
