ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Volleyball (13-5, 5-2 MIAA) took down Northwest Missouri State in straight sets on Tuesday night at the MWSU Fieldhouse in St. Joseph.
The Griffons, riding a four-match winning streak, took the sets 25-21, 25-14 and 25-17.
MoWest never trailed in the first two sets, and outhit Northwest (6-10, 0-7 MIAA) .220 - .105. The Griffs trailed briefly in the third, 4-3, but led 20-10 and closed it out with a final kill from
Trista Marx.
Holly Heldt turned in her second straight double-double and the 31st of her career with 10 kills and 15 digs. She also had two aces and three total blocks.
Emma Salker turned in eight kills and assisted on six blocks.
Noelle Sutcliffe also had eight kills.
Taylor Russell had six.
Katelyn Diani-O'Day turned in her third straight double-double with 33 assists and 15 digs.
Kasidy Mohwinkle led Northwest offensively with 10 kills. She also had nine digs. MoWest scores back-to-back wins over Northwest for the first time since 2017, and they hadn't recorded back-to-back sweeps over the 'Cats since 2003-04.
MoWest stays home Friday to host Pittsburg State. First serve in that match is set for 6 p.m. The match will be broadcast on the Griffon Sports Network (Varsity Network App, GoGriffons.com/listen) and will be available to watch on the MIAA Network.
