ABERDEEN, S.D. - Griffon soccer (1-0-1) concluded their non-conference road trip up north with a 1-1 tie against Northern State (S.D.) (0-1-1) on Sunday afternoon.
"I thought we struggled to find our rhythm in the first half but settled down and played a better second half," commented head coach
Jacob Plocher. "We handled the adversity of coming from behind well. Now it's time to rest up and get ready for our stretch of home games."
The Wolves struck first in the 12th minute with a goal from Megan Fastenau, assisted by Eva Larson, to take an early lead. Senior
Lauren Nylund chipped in the equalizer with a penalty kick goal in the 40th minute - her third career and second goal of the season.
Senior Katelyn Rowland led Western offensively with a matching-leading four shots, three of which were on goal.

Kendall Knisley each added a pair of shots for MWSU.

Keeley Kroonenberg (1-0-1) made her 32nd career start in goal for the Griffons, finishing one save short of a career-high with seven.
Missouri Western Soccer will host William Jewell at Spratt Stadium next Thursday for the 2024 home opener. Kickoff against the Cardinals is set for 7:00 p.m.
