ST. JOSEPH, MO. – Junior shortstop
Blake Anderson's bat continued to sizzle for Missouri Western State University Tuesday, April 9, headlining early week MIAA action.
Anderson, extending a current personal hit streak to six games, belted a double as part of a two-hit, one-run scored, one RBI afternoon on the Griffons home field. He was one of three members of head coach
Damian Stambersky's squad to hit a two-bagger, joining junior third baseman
Quinton Robertson (Blue Springs, Mo.) and sophomore outfielder
Blake Martin (Shawnee, Kan.).
Even with those accolades included, it wasn't enough to thwart a strong start for visiting University of Central Missouri. The league-leading and top 10 nationally-ranked Mules jumped out to a 4-0 lead through four frames and didn't look back towards a 12-4 decision.
MWSU (18-19, 9-15 MIAA) travels to Pittsburg State University for a Friday-Sunday, April 12-14 series.
NOTE: Anderson, a native of Overland Park, Kan., is hitting a robust .520 in his current skein. That roll includes seven RBI, a double and a home run. His season average has sky-rocketed 44 points (.303-.347).
