Splendid Sweep – Balanced attack spotlights home finale

ST. JOSEPH, MO. – Missouri Western State University's offense and pitching played key roles in a rousing pair of triumphs over Missouri Science and Technology Tuesday, April 23.

Senior hurler Natalie Kissinger (Hastings, Neb.) fired a complete-game five-hit shutout in the nightcap which headlined a 2-0 win for head coach Joe Yegge's Griffons. Sophomore infielder Kalee Higdon (Gretna, Neb.) smashed a pair of home runs as part of a three-hit, four-runs-scored effort in the opener to go along with two hits from junior infielder Bubba Hoelscher (Papillion, Neb.) and a two-run home run from junior catcher Kennedy Preston (Des Moines, Iowa) as part of a 7-2 victory in the opener.

MWSU (28-18) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the lid-lifter to ensure senior pitcher Sydney Rader (Norfolk, Neb.) gaining her 44th career win. Kissinger had the backing of a two-run double by Hoelscher in the Griffs first at-bat of game two.
