JOPLIN, MO. – Sophomore outfielder Anthony Taggart (Topeka, Kan.) tripled, drove in two runs and scored once helping lead Missouri Western State University Saturday, April 20.
 
His three-bagger was one of four extra-base knocks for head coach Damian Stambersky's squad, Junior second baseman Kaden Doan (Frisco, Texas), senior outfielder Jared Munk (Shawnee, Kan.) and junior first baseman Quinn Gundelfinger (Nixa, Mo.) each added two-baggers to the list. Gundelfinger and Munk posted two-hit outings, too.
 
The Griffons managed to trim a once 10-run deficit to seven with a three-run outburst in the seventh. However, they couldn't get any closer in a 14-6 defeat.
 
MWSU (18-24, 9-20 MIAA) wraps with the weekend series against the Lions Sunday, April 21. Game time is 1 p.m.
