TOPEKA, KS. - The Missouri Western softball team found itself on the wrong end of a pair of pitchers' duels Saturday at 24th-ranked Washburn.
The Griffons (20-12, 6-6 MIAA) were no-hit in a 1-0 game one loss to the Ichabods (30-10, 11-5 MIAA), before falling 2-0 in game two. .
GAME 1 - MWSU 0, WASHBURN 1
The Griffon bats were unable to solve the riddle of Washburn pitcher Sadie Walker (17-5), who 22 batters in a 10-strikeout, no-walk, no-hit performance. Western reached base twice. Once in the third inning when
Lina Delgado was hit by a pitch.
Taylor Jones lined into an inning-ending double play. The Griffons threatened again in the sixth inning, when
Kennedy Preston reached safely on a throwing error to lead off the inning.
Emily Watters, who pinch ran for Preston would steal second, but Walker struck out the side to end the threat.

Sydney Rader was also spectacular in the circle, scattering 4 hits, and striking out 5 Ichabods in a complete-game effort. Washburn scored its lone run in the third on an RBI sacrifice fly. Rader takes the loss and falls to 11-4 on the season.
GAME 2 - MWSU 0, WASHBURN 2
Washburn's one-two pitching punch carried over into game two, with Ichabod pitcher Jaycee Ginter striking out 12 Griffons en route to a three-hit shutout and a 2-0 victory.
Kalee Higdon had all three hits for MWSU in game two.
Natalie Kissinger took the loss for the Griffons, allowing just two runs in four innings of work.
Harley Pruetting pitched two shutout innings in relief.
The Griffons return to action on Tuesday, April 2nd, when they step outside of MIAA play and travel to Rockhurst for a doubleheader against the Hawks. First pitch is set for 4:00pm.
