All Griffon Starters Reach Base in 10-8 victory over Northwest Missouri State

MARYVILLE, Mo. --Missouri Western Baseball got contributions from every part of the lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Griffons put 10 runs on the board and beat the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats 10-8 Sunday. The Griffons improve their record to 13-12 overall and 5-8 in MIAA play. Their 13 wins matches the win total from the 2023 season.

Senior Sam Kratz (3-1) got the win out of the bullpen for Missouri Western. The right-hander went 5.1 shutout innings, giving up one hit, no walks while striking out two. Junior Christian Whiting started the ballgame and went 1.2 innings, surrendering three runs, zero earned, without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two.

Senior Jared Munk led the way offensively for the Griffons, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and three RBI. Sophomore Jackson Bryant compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Senior Ryan Neise went 3-for-5 in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Griffons scored in six different innings on the way to the win. Missouri Western broke a 3-3 tie and took the lead for good at 4-3 in the fourth inning The big hit for the Griffons in the inning was a two-run home run off the bat of Munk.

» Missouri Western had three-hit games from both Bryant and Neise.
» Every Griffon starter reached base safely in the win.
» Missouri Western pitchers limited Northwest Missouri State to just 3-for-16 (.188) with runners in scoring position.

The Griffons return home for a three game MIAA series with Newman beginning Friday, March 22.
