ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — With Griffon Women's Basketball's streak reaching a season-high seven wins in a row, they gear up to face Washburn for a second time this year, squaring off with the Ichabods on Wednesday in Topeka, Kansas.

Sitting in 10th place in the conference, Washburn (11-10, 6-9 MIAA) has lost a season-high four games in a row. However, the Ichabods are 7-1 inside Lee Arena, last playing and earning a win there on Jan. 20 against No. 25 Pittsburg State. Washburn is coming off a 66-62 loss at Northeastern State, losing on a game-winning jumper with four seconds remaining.
Who to Watch
Senior guard Aubree Dewey comes in with a 16.4 ppg clip, placing her fifth in the MIAA. Sophomore center Yiibari Nwidadah leads the MIAA with 9.8 rpg but hasn't played since Feb. 1 vs. Rogers State, only logging 14 minutes in the contest. From downtown, MWSU will need to limit sophomore guard Aniah Wayne, whose 42 threes place her fourth in the MIAA.

Now in year two at Washburm, Lora Westling is 22-27 as an Ichabod. Since starting her HC career in 2013, she is 137-137 overall. Since 2022, she is 0-3 vs. MWSU and 0-1 when the Griffs visit Topeka, Kansas.

Western came away with a win on this day back in 2019, defeating Lincoln 68-59 at Jason Gym in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Griffs were led by a game-high 24 points from Brittany Atkins Three more Griffons scored in double figures, as the Western defense held Lincoln to an 0-of-7 showing from 3-point range. The game was only tied once, and Lincoln never led in the contest.
