ST. JOSEPH - Missouri Western lacrosse extended its program-record start to 4-0 Sunday, edging out a 13-12 win over Quincy University at Spratt Stadium.
Six different Griffons scored in the victory, paced by
Brooke Tjernlund,
Sam Pruitt and
Ryann Durrett with three goals apiece. The Griffons outshot Quincy 34-30 with 28 shots on goal to the Hawks' 24. MWSU had 24 ground balls to QU's 14.
"We showed a lot of fight, coming back from a three-goal deficit," said head coach
Jessica Berg. "It wasn't a pretty game and we didn't play to our potential."
"But a win is a win and we won't apologize for being 4-0. Overall it's been an exciting start to the season."
MWSU returns to action on March 3rd against Grand Valley State. The game will be played in Quincy, Illinois
