Box Score LIBERTY, Mo. — Thanks to 10 players scoring, Griffon Lacrosse earned their first-ever 3-0 start with a 17-5 victory over William Jewell in non-conference action on Friday night at the WJC Lacrosse Field.
Missouri Western improves to 2-0 on the road, while William Jewell drops to 1-2 overall and 0-2 at home.
Sam Pruitt led MWSU with a game-high six points and four goals, and
Maleah Sosa notched a career-high three goals in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After WJC jumped out to a 1-0 start, Western went off on a 13-1 run throughout the rest of the first half. The Griffons saw first-half goals from Pruitt, Sosa,

Jordan Porter,
Serah Ryals,
Jessica Brook,
Ryann Durrett,
Mikaela Ness and
Brinley Willenbrock.
Jewell kept pace in the third and fourth quarters, matching MWSU with two goals per period, but another solid showing from goalkeeper
Mackenzie Porter sealed the advantage. Porter claimed six saves in just 15 minutes, handing the baton off to
Ava Garaway, who went on to collect two saves in 45 minutes of action.
GAME NOTES
- This is Pruitt's ninth game as a Griffon with four or more goals.
- Porter picked up a game-high five ground balls.
- Porter also tallied a team-high three caused turnovers.
- Ness came away with a game-high five draw controls.

The Griffons return home on Sunday to take on Quincy (1-1) in more non-conference play at 12 p.m. inside Spratt Stadium. The Hawks lost to Northern Michigan 17-4 on Feb. 18 in Marquette, Michigan.
