Griffon Lacrosse to take on first-year program William Jewell

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Starting 2-0 for the first time in the program's four-season existence, Griffon Lacrosse will experience another first this Friday, taking on fledgling program William Jewell at 5 p.m. in Liberty, Missouri.

NOTABLES
  • Missouri Western is second in the GLVC and joins Maryville as the only remaining undefeated team in the conference. 
  • Western is third in the GLVC with 31 goals and 15.5 per game.
  • The Griffons are second in the GLVC with 69 total shots and are also second with 57 shots on goal.
  • The Griffs are first in woman-down goals with three so far this season.
  • Junior midfielder Sam Pruitt is second in the GLVC with eight goals. She's tied for first with six assists.
  • Pruitt is also tied for first with 14 points. She stands alone with 18 total shots this year.
  • Senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Porter is fourth within the conference with 12 saves.

2/23 - SCOUTING WILLIAM JEWELL | 5 PM 
A first-year program, William Jewell (1-1) is tied for third in the GLVC, last playing on Feb. 9 in a 15-6 loss to NAIA program Missouri Baptist in Liberty. The loss to the Spartans was the first lacrosse home in Jewell history. The Cardinals were tabbed eighth in the 2024 GLVC Preseason Poll.

Who to Watch
Freshman attacker Olivia Fornelli leads Jewell with four goals, and her six assists rival Pruitt for the conference lead. Fellow freshman attacker Toryn Podschwit is fifth in the GLVC with 11 total shots. Freshman goalkeeper Haydin Gibson is second in the league with eight ground balls, and freshman defender Mia Smith is tied for second with six caused turnovers.

Head Coach
The Cardinals are led by first-year Head Coach Kallie Muck. She spent the season prior as the head honcho for the University of Saint Mary.

No. This is the first-ever meeting between MWSU and WJC. 

ON THIS DAY IN GRIFFON LACROSSE HISTORY
