ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Lacrosse will host their 2024 home opener on Sunday at 12 p.m. in non-conference action vs. McKendree at Spratt Stadium.

The Bearcats will be opening their 2024 season against the Griffons. McKendree went 6-10 overall and 2-4 in GLVC play last year, ending its campaign without a postseason appearance. After finishing their second-straight losing season, the Bearcats were tabbed fifth in the GLVC Preseason Poll, one spot behind MWSU.

Who to Watch
Senior midfielder Olivia Julian is the team's returning scoring leader, racking up 39 points and 38 goals. Julian is also the team's returning leader in ground balls, picking up 24 a year ago. Freshman defender Jayna Barnden tied for the team lead with 16 caused turnovers in 2023.

Natalie Simpson enters season No. 2 with McKendree. She is 0-1 vs. MWSU and in St. Joseph.

McKendree leads the all-time series 2-1. Western is 1-1 when the Bearcats come to Spratt Stadium, picking up the program's first home win vs. its conference foe in 2023.

The Griffons picked up their first-ever win vs. McKendree on April 4, 2023, in a 14-4 win at Spratt Stadium. Western jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led 10-1 at halftime. Pruitt scored a game-high six points and five goals, and Porter only had to tally one save while picking up five a game-high five ground balls. Maleah Sosa led the way with a game-high and career-high three assists.
