RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Missouri Western men's basketball 36-29 at halftime and then 56-41 with 11:57 to play, but the Griffons (6-1) went on an incredible 17-0 run and pulled out a 69-67 win at No. 24 Arkansas Tech (3-2) on Friday night at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.
Zion Swader's layup off of a steal with 47 seconds left ended up being the go-ahead bucket. The Griffons held a lead for just 3:45 of the contest.
The Griffons, now winners of six straight, shot 52.2% (24-of-46), including 38.1% (8-of-21) from three. Missouri Western was also solid at the free throw line, making 13-of-16 (81.3%).
Justin Bubak and
Zane Nelson led five Griffons in double figures with 13 points each.
Kidtrell Blocker had a season-best 11 points off the bench on 4-of-4 shooting, while Swader and
Julius Dixon each chipped in 10 points.
Missouri Western comes back home this Tuesday to face William Jewell. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Griffon Sports Network (Varsity Network App, GoGriffons.com/listen) and it will also be streamed on the MIAA Network.
