Soccer Handles the Bronchos 3-0 in Oklahoma

MWSU extended its win streak to eight, remains undefeated

EDMOND, Okla. - The Missouri Western soccer team (9-0-1, 4-0-0) kept the good times rolling with a dominant 3-0 victory at Central Oklahoma (4-4-2, 1-1-2 MIAA) on Sunday afternoon.

"I am incredibly proud of this team," commented head coach Jake Plocher. "The ladies worked extremely hard today in very hot temperatures, and it was a total team effort."

The undefeated Griffons didn't skip a beat in the Sooner State as Kendall Knisley chipped in her third goal with an assisted volley from Nicoletta Froehlich in the 23rd minute. MWSU kept the momentum in their favor for the remainder of the half, outshooting UCO 7-5 and forcing four total corners.

Froehlich tallied her third point of the match with her second goal of the season in the 67th minute, assisted by Aidyn Woodall. Junior Sydney Hammett added insurance in the 80th minute with her first goal in a Griffon uniform.

Keeley Kroonenberg (7-0-1) made her eighth start of the season in goal for the Griffons. The senior tallied her second clean sheet of the season with four saves.

Kaari Little led the offense with three shots (two on goal) in her 69 minutes on the pitch. Katelynn Rowland, Froehlich, Lauren Nylund and Brookelyn Buttolph helped anchor the defense with complete 90-minute outings.

The Griffons will return home next Friday for a much-anticipated match with the Northeastern State RiverHawks. Action from Spratt Stadium is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Tommy Rezac will provide play-by-play commentary, which will be broadcast on the MIAA Network, the Varsity Network App and GoGriffons.com/listen
