Sydney Hammett cashed in late for the undefeated No. 20 Griffons (13-0-2, 8-0-1 MIAA) to secure a 1-0 victory in the inaugural match against Pittsburg State (6-6-2, 2-4-2 MIAA) on Friday night. MWSU extended its impressive shutout streak to seven matches and has not conceded a goal in October.

Corinne Stewart excelled in the first half, leading the match with three shots on goal. Missouri Western controlled Pitt State in the opening 45 minutes with a 5-1 advantage in shots—every one of their five attempts was on target.

In the second half, Western broke the stalemate in the 76th minute when Hammett scored with a right-footed shot, marking her second goal of the season. MWSU dominated the pitch during the final 45 minutes, recording 12 shots—five of which were on goal—while the Gorillas managed only one shot.

Keeley Kroonenberg (11-0-2) extended her clean sheet streak to six matches. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado native made one save in the match, bringing her total saves for the season to 32.
