Griffons fall to No. 6 UIndy in regular season finale

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Missouri Western Lacrosse fell to No. 6 UIndy on Sunday in the final game of the regular season, with the Greyhounds beating the Griffons 17-4 at Key Stadium.

The Griffons (9-7, 3-3 GLVC) will finish in the fourth spot in the GLVC, meaning the Griffons and Greyhounds (15-2, 6-0 GLVC) have a rematch scheduled for next weekend, as UIndy locked up the No. 1 seed with the win. It will be the fourth overall meeting between the Griffons and Greyhounds.

Karlin York led the Griffons in front of the cage, netting two goals on four shots. Mikaela Ness and Sam Pruitt both also added goals, while Jordan Coulon provided the only Griffon assist of the afternoon.

Jess Soenen led UIndy with five goals, while Anna Ziemba and Joey Fowler both added hat tricks for the Greyhounds. Last year's Division II National Champions had goals from seven players overall.

The Griffons tallied one goal in each quarter of the game, while UIndy scored five in the first, six in the second and three in both the third and fourth. Ness grabbed the first Griffon goal with just over three minutes remaining in the first quarter to make it 4-1.

York made it 8-2 halfway through the second quarter, grabbing her first goal of the game. She opened the scoring in the second half thanks to Coulon's assist, cutting the score to 11-3 just one minute into the third quarter.

The final Griffon goal came with just over a minute to go in the game, as Pruitt scored to make it 17-4.
