ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — Missouri Western Lacrosse heads east to finish off its final road trip vs. Lewis and Indianapolis in a regular-season finale that could see the Griffons achieve a number of program firsts along the way.
THREE-HEADED ATTACK
Karlin York,
Sam Pruitt and
Madison Brady all have 35 or more goals this year for the Griffons. In total, six different Griffons have eclipsed the 10-goal mark this season, with
Jordan Coulon and
Caetryn Gilreath sitting at 24 goals and
Mikaela Ness nabbing 16. All six of these Griffons have a shot-on-goal percentage above 70, so when they get in front of the cage, they probably aren't missing.
CLOSING IN ON PROGRAM FIRSTS
The Griffons can hit a number of milestones this weekend with one or two wins. One win would clinch their first-ever bid in the GLVC Tournament and their first-ever winning record in program history. Two wins would give the Griffons their first-ever win over a ranked team, their first 10-win season and a shot at the third seed in the tourney.
SCOUTING LEWIS: APRIL 21, 4 PM
The Griffons and Flyers (4-7, 0-4 GLVC) have only met twice, but the last time they came together saw the end of the Griffons' late push to the GLVC Tournament last season. The Flyers and Griffons are the two best teams in the GLVC for draw percentage, with both teams sitting in the top 15 nationally. However, the Flyers are currently riding a four-game losing streak.
Who to Watch
Meltonique Bowen leads Lewis in both goals and assists this season, tallying 25 assists and 11 dishes. Her 36 points put her 14 above the next Lewis player, Carlie Serritella, who has 17 goals and five assists. Paige Bracey, Claire Knight and Ashley Lason are the only three Flyers to start every game this season.
SCOUTING NO. 6 INDIANAPOLIS: APRIL 22, 11 AM
Last year's Division II national champions are the final test for MWSU in the regular season this year, and the Griffons will be playing No. 6 UIndy (13-2, 4-0 GLVC) on the two-year anniversary of their last GLVC loss. The Greyhounds have only lost to top-10 teams this season and are one of the favorites to repeat this season as national champions.
Who to Watch
Anna Ziemba and Joey Fowler lead the Greyhounds with 45 goals this year, and Ziemba leads the team with 63 overall points this year. Megan Dunn and Quinn Malcolm both have 31 goals and are number one and two on the team in assists, with Dunn having 28 and Malcolm having 27.
