ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Missouri Western Softball fell to Northwest Missouri State, dropping the first game 1-0 and the second game 2-0 on Friday afternoon at the Spring Sports Complex.
GAME ONE
Northwest 1, Missouri Western 0
The first game saw the Griffons only give up three hits, but an error in the fourth inning put the Bearcats on the basepath, eventually leading to the only run of the contest.
Sydni Hawkins led the Griffons with two hits, including a double that put the winning run on base.The Griffons couldn't capitalize, and the game ended at 1-0.
Pitcher
Harley Pruetting finished with the loss for the Griffons, only giving up three hits with nine strikeouts to boot. Jadyn Streigle came away with the win for Northwest.
GAME TWO
Northwest 2, Missouri Western 0
Game two was more of the same for the Griffons. Northwest (24-20, 7-11 MIAA) scored on two singles, one in the second and one in the third, giving the Bearcats enough to beat the Griffons. Missouri Western out-hit the Bearcats, notching six hits to NWMSU's five.
Pitcher
Sam Pederson came away with the loss but only gave up one earned run while fanning eight batters. Breck Dickey finished with the win for the Bearcats.
NOTABLES
- There were no pitching changes in either game.
- Hawkins pushed her all-time doubles record even further with a double in game one, now sitting at 60 in her career.
- Before the games began, Hawkins was honored for breaking the all-time hits and doubles records.
