CLAREMORE, Okla. — Griffon Baseball fell in Sunday's series finale at Rogers State, losing 5-4 after nearly erasing a three-run deficit at the Diamond Sports Complex.
Ryan Neise opened up the scoring for Missouri Western (5-16, 2-11 MIAA) with a two-RBI single in the top of the second, scoring
Jerry Nix and
Hunter Rumachik. Rogers State (17-8, 5-8 MIAA) responded with a run in the third and fifth inning, tying the game at 2-2. One inning later, the Hillcats grabbed the lead after a fielding error by
Jhonatan Pena. Facing a 5-2 disadvantage in the eighth, Neise notched another RBI, singling to center to bring home Nix.
Bryson McCarn plated Neise with a triple to right field moments later, but the Griffons were turned away in the ninth to give RSU the series win.
NOTABLES
- In his first game back since March 5, Neise stole his first base of the season.
- Neise also led the Griffs at the plate, going 3-fo-4 with a a run scored and a career-high three RBI.
- Nix slashed his third double of the season.
