ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Griffon Baseball ran into a buzz saw in their second game of the season, falling to No. 2 Southern Arkansas, 12-2, in seven innings on Friday at Clyde Berry Field.
The Muleriders (4-1) put up nine runs in the first three innings, scoring five a game-high five runs in the bottom of the third The Griffons got on the board in the top of the sixth when
Jerry Nix scored on a wild pitch. One inning later, MWSU (1-1) scored again when
Jayden Singleton took off for home after
Bryson McArn was picked off while trying to steal second base. However, the game ended after the seventh due to the 10-run rule.
NOTABLES
- Brenden Andersen had another multi-hit day, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Pitcher Caleb Peterson recorded his first strikeout as a Griffon, fanning one batter with zero earned runs given up in 1.1 innings.
- Fellow pitcher Sam Kratz closed out the game on the mound for MWSU, tallying his first punchout as a Griff in two innings of work.

Missouri Western wraps up the Henderson State Invitational on Saturday against Oklahoma Baptist (2-2) at 6 p.m. back at Clyde Berry Field. The game was originally scheduled for 2:30 p.m., but rain pushed back initial play on Friday. The Bison beat McKendree on Friday, 6-4.
