ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Dakari Streeter:
All-American Griffon.
The Associated Press released its 2023 NCAA-II All-America selections on Wednesday, naming a Griffon to its list for the first time since 2015. Tied for third place in Division II with 12.5 sacks, Streeter was placed on the All-America Second Team. Streeter also led the MIAA with 14 tackles for a loss, tied for fifth in the nation with 1.04 sacks per game and tied for second in the country with 11 solo sacks.
Finishing his career with 18.5 sacks, the sixth most in program history, Griffon Football's first-ever MIAA Defensive Player of the Year is the team's first overall All-American since 2019.
"We are extremely happy for Dakari's accomplishments, said first-year Head Coach
Tyler Fenwick. "He has not only been an extraordinary player on the field but has been an exceptional person to coach. He has been the definition of a team player, a great leader on and off the field and obviously produced on the football field as well."
Fenwick was on staff when MWSU's last AP All-American, Michael Jordan, began his collegiate career. Streeter is the 13th Griffon to be named an AP All-American. Just recently, he finished fourth out of eight finalists for the Gene Upshaw Award, an honor bestowed to the best lineman in Division II.
