Griffon Soccer's season ends in overtime vs. No. 8 Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. — Missouri Western Soccer fell 3-2 in overtime on the road against No. 8-ranked and No. 1-seeded Washburn on Friday night in the MIAA Quarterfinal round at Yager Stadium.

Washburn started the scoring when Belle Kennedy scored in the 10th minute, assisted by Aubrey Tanksley.

The Griffons responded to make it a 1-1 game on a goal from Jaden Skinner — her 10th goal of the season — in the 28th minute, assisted by Brookelyn Buttolph.

Missouri Western then took a 2-1 lead on Camrin Peaslee's 51st-minute goal, her first of the season. Skinner assisted the goal.

The Ichabods knotted it up at 2-2 with a 68th-minute goal from Riley Wells.

Washburn broke the 2-2 tie in overtime on Lindsey Maul's goal in the 107th minute. The golden goal finished off the overtime game.

GAME NOTES

  • Missouri Western received two yellow cards.
  • Keeley Kroonenberg totaled five saves for the Griffons out of 15 total Ichabod shots.
