ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Griffon Soccer hits the road for a pair of MIAA matchups, first heading to Topeka, Kansas, to take on Washburn, and then to Emporia to face the Hornets.
A difficult weekend behind them, the Griffons (3-4-3, MIAA 1-1-1) look to rebound after suffering their first home loss of the season. The Griffons played a tight draw vs. Nebraska-Kearney and then followed it up with a difficult loss to Fort Hays State.
9/30 - SCOUTING WASHBURN
The Ichabod's are playing well this year, amassing a record of 7-1-2, going 2-0-1 in MIAA play. The Griffons haven't lost to Washburn since 2015 and are 4-2 in Topeka since 2010.
Washburn is led by senior forward Jaedyn Johnson. Johnson has five goals and an assist. The last time the Griffons matched up against Washburn,
Jaden Skinner found the net twice and MWSU came away with a resounding 3-0 win.
10/2 - SCOUTING EMPORIA
The Hornets are 2-4-4 this year, going 0-0-3 in conference. They have only played one game at home -- a 1-1 tie against Fort Hays.
Senior Hannah Woolery leads the line for the Hornets. She has scored seven goals and added three assists so far this season.
The last 10 matchups between these two schools have been as even as it gets, with both schools winning five. The Griffons are 6-4-1 in Emporia but lost 5-1 last time they played at the ESU Soccer Pitch.

THIS WEEKEND IN GRIFFON SOCCER
In 2005, the Griffons got their first result against Northwest Missouri State, finding a 1-1 draw in the Bearcats' first visit to Spratt Memorial Stadium. Michelle Polk scored her first goal as a Griffon in the 27th minute to secure the point.
