Griffon Lacrosse Sends Away Saints on Senior Night

ST JOSEPH, Mo. – Winless in the conference and down without their All-GLVC Second Team goalkeeper for practically the final three quarters, Griffon Lacrosse put together one of its best offensive outputs of the season to secure an 11-5 victory over Maryville University on Saturday night at Spratt Stadium.

Up 3-2 with 9:07 to go in the second quarter, goalkeeper Mackenzie Porter took a dive in an attempt to save a shot by MU's Reagan Rukstad that resulted in Kari Ham coming in for her injured teammate. Ham gave up a free-position goal by Skyler Joliie just moments later, but it was just one of two goals she let slip past her in a 10-save night. After going up 4-3 on a Jorja Schooler goal with 1:10 left in the second, MWSU kept the momentum moving with a 6-0 run that saw goals from Amani Robinson, Madison Brady, C.C. Langmaid and Jazmine Servance.

NOTABLES
  • Brady's four-goal night gives her 26 this season, the most on the team.
  • Robinson celebrated her senior night with her 20th and 21st goal of 2022.
  • Ham's 10 saves are a career-high. She recorded nine in 2021.
  • Morgan Nicholson recently broke the MWSU record for draw controls in a season and currently sits at 77. Her eight against McKendree last Saturday, April 16 pushed her ahead of Madison Iandoli (68).
  • Mackenzie Porter broke her own record for ground balls with 58. Her six-ground balls against Lewis on April 10 shattered her 2021 mark of 50.
