TAHLEQUAH, Ok. — The RiverHawks ran through game two of the series on Saturday with a 7-3 victory over Griffon Baseball.
Northeastern State (20-12, 10-9 MIAA) slapped five unanswered runs on the board to start the day. Four came against starting pitcher Jacob Weirich (0-2), but only two were earned. Weirich pitched four full innings and struck out eight, tallying 82 total pitches.
Missouri Western (5-23, 3-16 MIAA) got on the board in the sixth when Alex Crouch drove a double to center field that scored Brady Holden. Crouch later scored on a Brenden Andersen single through the right side.
Down 5-2, pitcher Easton Unruh gave up a solo bomb to Blaze Brothers in the sixth. Colin Klingensmith sent a solo shot of his own to right in the seventh off of Trey Asher. Will Courtney collected an RBI on a groundout to second to score Jared Munk in the eighth, but the Griffons couldn't complete the rally.
