TAHLEQUAH, Ok. — Despite grabbing the early lead and contending late, Griffon Baseball was swept with Sunday's 14-5 loss against No. 10 Northeastern State thanks to five RiverHawk home runs.
Missouri Western (5-24, 3-17 MIAA) went ahead 1-0 thanks a
Brenden Andersen RBI single to right to score
Brady Holden. However, pitcher
Jared Slater (0-4) was taken deep four times in his 2.2 innings pitched — giving up seven runs earned runs against 16 batters faced. Northeastern State (21-12, 11-9 MIAA) let MWSU come back to make it a 7-5 game in the fifth after Andersen blasted a two-run shot to left field, scoring
Alex Crouch.
As soon as the Griffons made it close, the RiverHawks made the cut deeper with a five-run bottom of the fifth. Northeastern ended the game sending seven-unanswered runners across the plate to put an exclamation point on their third victory in a row.
