Bearcats Beat Griffon Lacrosse, 17-10

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Despite tallying the third most draw controls in program history with 20, Griffon Lacrosse is still winless in the GLVC after a barrage of seven Bearcat goals in the third quarter helped give McKendree the 17-10 win.

Jazmine Servance scored within the first 25 seconds of the contest, similar to MWSU's (6-9, 0-5 GLVC) start on Thursday vs. No. 8 Lindenwood. Sam Pruitt found a goal off of a pass from Tamrin Swann just over three minutes later to put the Griffons up 2-0, but McKendree (7-7, 3-2 GLVC) marched forward for three-straight goals to take their first lead at 3-2. Sydney Tiemann scored the Bearcats' first two goals and nearly outscored Missouri Western overall with nine scores on the day.

With over three minutes left in the first quarter, Morgan Nicholson tied things up at 3-3, but it was the final tie of the game. The Bearcats quickly took the lead back and bunkered down on defense in the second, only giving up two scores all quarter long while putting the Griffons in a 7-5 hole at halftime. One quarter later, the Bearcats were on top 14-8 thanks to the likes of Tiemann and Oriana Johnson, who scored four of her five goals in the third.

Johnson shot 4-for-7 in free position shots while MWSU as a team shot 2-for-8. Mackenzie Porter recorded 13 saves while Kari Ham had four. This is the second game in a row where the opponent shot more than 35 times against the Griffons.
