Griffon Lacrosse Loses to No. 8 Lindenwood

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Playing both the defending national runner-ups and champions in the span of a week is a tough test for anyone, as was the case for Griffon Lacrosse this Thursday night at Spratt Stadium.

Lindenwood took their seventh win a row with an 18-8 decision over Missouri Western, remaining undefeated in the GLVC. Missouri Western (6-8, 0-4) started the night the strong with a Sam Pruitt goal within the first 40 seconds of the game — her team-leading 23rd score of the season. However, the Lions (12-2, 5-0) tore through the rest of the first quarter with a 6-0 run to take a commanding 6-1 lead.

Amani Robinson scored her 15th goal of the season early on into the second quarter, but the Lions kept the pressure on goalkeepers Kari Ham and Mackenzie Porter. Ham started the game and recorded four saves while Porter subbed in to snag 13 saves of her own. Trailing 9-3 with Porter back in the game, Pruitt pulled off two goals in under one minute to tighten things up.

Caetryn Gilreath scored 27 seconds later to bring the Griffons closer in a 9-5 game, but Logan Eldredge had the hot hand. She logged a goal with 47 seconds left before halftime to notch her third of six scores in the game. Thanks to a 10-point, 16-6 lead later on, the Lions coasted with the turbo clock in play all the way to the finish line.
