Lewis Sends Griffon Lacrosse to 2-Game Skid

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – A 1-for-8 showing in free position shots sealed Griffon Lacrosse's 11-9 loss vs. Lewis University this Sunday at Lewis Stadium.

Tamrin Swann sank the first goal of the game just over three minutes in to put Missouri Western (6-7, 0-3 GLVC) on top, but the Flyers rattled off four-straight goals to go up 4-1 and keep a healthy lead for the rest of the day. After outscoring Lewis 4-3 in the second and third quarter combined, Sam Pruitt slung her second goal of the game to cut it to a 9-8 deficit with four and a half minutes left to play. The Flyers (3-7, 1-2 GLV) answered Pruitt with two more goals inside a single minute to keep the Griffons on the outside looking in.

Both MWSU and Lewis scored four goals apiece in the fourth, keeping the Griffons from forcing any tie throughout the game. Lewis only shot 1-for-5 in their own free position shots, but the Griffons' 1-for-8 showing hurt in the long run. The Flyers outshot the Griffons 33-27 and 22-21 in shots on goal. Mackenzie Porter stayed busy with 11 saves while Lewis' Faith Engle secured 12 of her own.
