ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Six in a row and Griffon Tennis still can't be stopped.

Missouri Western stays undefeated this season with Wednesday's 6-1 manhandling of Minnesota State-Mankato (11-6) at Genesis Health Club. This 6-0 start surpasses the Griffons' 4-0 start in 2015-'16, and it's their longest winning streak since the 1990s. That legacy plays a large part in Coach Alejandro De La Torre's motto for this year's squad — remembering the past but pushing forward to the future. 

The Griffons swept right through their doubles competition for the third match in a row and went 5-1 in singles play. Their only loss was in No. 1 singles when Tristen Bryant-Otake defeated Anya Chavez 6-3, 6-4. 

Esther Güemes, the MIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, won the closest singles match of the day with a 7-6, 6-3 decision over Avery Stilwell. Chavez and Isabella MacGibbon won a tight 7-6 bout in No. 1 doubles over Bryant-Otake and Stiwell.
