TOPEKA, Ks. — Despite leading early, Griffon Baseball fell victim to a pair of four-run innings in the first game of the series at Washburn and lost 9-3 — pushing their losing streak to six.
Missouri Western was up early off of a Hunter Rumachik double that brought in three runs. Washburn knocked a run in during the third, but the fifth inning is where it became dismal for MWSU. The Ichabods put two over the fence, hit a double and scored on an error that made the score 5-3.
Washburn put on four more runs on the board in the eighth. This came from a walk with the bases loaded, a single that brought in two and another single that only brought in one.
