Griffon Men drop heartbreaker vs. Rogers State

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Missouri Western Men's Basketball lost a heartbreaker to Rogers State on Saturday night, 62-61, at the MWSU Fieldhouse.

Junior forward Will Eames led his team in scoring against the Hillcats with a season high-19 points that included eight rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guard Julius Dixon contributed 16 points for the evening.

The Griffons (7-4, 3-2 MIAA) took the lead almost immediately with a 5-0 head start in the first two minutes. Rogers State (8-4, 4-2)  caught back up and eventually took a first-half lead at 36-29.
Down by two at 60-58 with 44 seconds left in the game, Eames converted an and-one layup, giving MWSU an 61-60 advantage.

After two RSU free throws took away MWSU's lead, sophomore guard Taye Fields grabbed a rebound after a missed free throw, giving the Griffons one more chance. With four seconds left of game, Dixon attempted a 3-pointer that didn't fall the Griffons' way.

Despite the loss, Reese Glover is on the verge of greatness. Glover sank three 3-pointers, putting him six threes closer to a share of the record for threes made in a career in Missouri Western Men's Basketball history.

This game is only the second time Rogers State has beaten Missouri Western since they started playing in 2020.
