SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Strong second and fourth quarters by Augustana stifled Griffon Women's Basketball on Saturday, as Missouri Western fell to the Vikings, 86-77, to close out the Courtyard Sioux Falls Tip-Off Classic.
Brionna Budgetts had a career-night carrying the Griffons' offense, shooting 13-of-16 for a game-high 33 points. Her scoring performance puts her tied for ninth all-time in a single Griffon game.
Camille Evans chipped in 10 points, while
Kameron Freemyer snagged a team-high seven rebounds.
Missouri Western (2-2) trailed only by two at the six-minute mark of the fourth quarter at 69-67, but an Augustana run of 12-3 through three minutes took momentum away from the Griffons for the rest of the game.
The Griffons were out-rebounded by 12 by the Vikings. Augustana (2-0) also out-shot MWSU, shooting 50% from the field compared to the Griffons' mark of 49%. Aislinn Duffy led Augustana with 33 points to match Budgetts' total.
