EMPORIA, Ks. – The Griffons broke out of their skid to beat Emporia by a score of three sets to one.
The Griffons (6-13, MIAA 3-8) dominated in almost every part of the game, and after dropping the first set never looked like losing.
SET ONE
Emporia State (4-16, MIAA 1-10) used a five point run to pull ahead, eventually securing the set 25-20.
SET TWO
The Griffons dominated the second set, going on two seven point runs. The second of those two runs finished off the set, and the Griffons won 25-10.
SET THREE
The set looked like it would be back and forth, with Emporia staying with the Griffons all the way to 12-11. That's when the Griffons turned on the heat, finishing the set on a 13-0 run capped off by an
Emma Salker ace to finish off the win 25-11.
SET FOUR
The Hornets battled their way through the first half of the set, staying with the Griffons for the opening points. A five point run for the Griffons put the game out of reach for the Hornets, and the Griffons won 25-18.
