HAYS, Ks. — With a 3-1 win to clinch its second win over Fort Hays State this season, Griffon Volleyball keeps its postseason push alive after Friday night's match at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
SET 1
FHSU 26, MWSU 24
The only set that fell in favor in of Fort Hays (10-13, 5-10 MIAA) was the first, with the Tigers starting with a 5-1 lead. Fort Hays built a strong 20-13 lead, but MWSU (8-15, 5-10 MIAA) sent seven-straight points onto the board, highlighted by four kills courtesy of
Danielle Moje. The Griffons found set point at 24-22 thanks to a
Lily Kurz kill, but the Tigers ended the first set with a 4-0 run.
SET 2
MWSU 25, FHSU 23
The Tigers tried to tame the Griffons midway through set with a 17-12 lead, but Missouri Western fought back to tie the set at 22-22 on a momentum-shifting kill from Moje. Missouri Western finished Fort Hays off with three-straight kills — one coming from Johnson and the final two by
Katherine White.
SET 3
MWSU 25, FHSU 22
Set three consisted of multiple streaks by both teams, as MWSU started off the mass scoring with a 4-0 spurt to take a 14-9 advantage. Fort Hays retaliated with a 6-0 run to go up 16-15. Missouri Western eventually equaled the playing filed with a
Yanni Washington kill at 20-20 before relying on a 3-0 attack to take the 2-1 overall advantage.
SET 4
MWSU 25, FHSU 20
The Tigers took a short lead at 13-10, but a 5-0 MWSU run burned Fort Hays' final lead of the night. Washington ended the night with her sixth and final kill of the match.

- Moje's 14 kills and 17 points led all players in the match.
- Jessica Sachen led the team with 17 digs.
- With a match-high 41 assists and 10 kills, Johnson tallied her second double-double of the season and her first since Sept. 3 vs. Southwest Baptist.
- Missouri Western in ninth in the MIAA with a 5-10 record, trailing a 5-10 Missouri Southern squad who recently beat No. 19 Central Oklahoma in three sets on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
