Griffons Battle To 0-0 Draw At Wayne State

WAYNE, Neb -- Despite peppering Wayne State with 11 shots on goal and allowing just four, the #24 Missouri Western State University women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw on Friday afternoon. Reigning MIAA Offensive Player of the Week Kaili Campbell led the Griffons with five shots on frame. Anna Mayer recorded her sixth career shutout with four saves on the afternoon.
The Griffons had a pair of chances in the opening 10 minutes of the match, as Jaden Skinner tested Katherine Hageman in the sixth minute and Campbell's effort in the seventh was turned away.
MWSU kept up the pressure, earning a corner kick in the 21st minute as Skinner's shot was again parried away by Hageman, but Campbell's attempt was stopped.
Neither team was able to break the deadlock in the second half, and despite solid chances in both extra frames for the Griffons, the final horn sounded the 0-0 draw.
Missouri Western moves to 2-0-1 on the season, with the Wildcats improving to 0-1-1. The road swing continues for the Griffons on Sunday, as Missouri Western heads to Marshall, Minn. for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Southwest Minnesota State.
