WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Missouri Western baseball team had its season come to an end Friday as they lost both games of their doubleheader at No. 2 Central Missouri. The Griffons dropped the opener, 15-4, and fell in game two, 13-2. MWSU ends the season with nine straight losses as they finish 10-29 and 8-25 in the MIAA.
GAME 1 – No. 2 Central Missouri 15, Missouri Western 4
The Mules jumped out to an early lead with two runs in each of the first two innings and they scored four in third to take an 8-0 lead. The Griffons got on the board in the fourth inning with an RBI groundout by
Iasid Bernal. Missouri Western added three in the fifth inning when
Gustavo Gonzalez hit a solo home run and
Bailey Crump hit a two-run shot.
Alex Crouch led the Griffs with two hits and a run scored, while
Jared Munk and
Zach Hanlan also had a base hit.
Brock Wrolstad suffered the loss on the mound as he allowed eight runs and 10 hits in three innings of work.
GAME 2 – No. 2 Central Missouri 13, Missouri Western 2
Crouch got the Griffons off to a good start in game two with a solo home run in the first inning, but then UCM scored eight unanswered runs over the first three innings. Missouri Western's only other run came on an RBI single by
Ben Tsui in the fourth inning.
Tsui and
Bailey Crump each had two hits for MWSU.
Jordan Akins took the loss as he gave up seven earned runs and nine hits in 2.2 innings.
