Griffon Lacrosse falls at home to No. 1 UIndy

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Missouri Western lacrosse team played the No. 1 team in the country on Friday night at Spratt Stadium and the Griffons fell to Indianapolis, 26-5.  MWSU drops to 2-6 this season and 0-2 in the GLVC, while UIndy is now 8-0 and 2-0 in league play.
 
The Greyhounds, who outscored their opponents in their first seven games 137-26, scored the first five goals of the game Friday before Madison Iandoli found the back of the net for Missouri Western with 21:28 left in the first half.  UIndy dominated the rest of the half as they scored the final 12 goals to take a 17-1 lead at the break, and they outshot the Griffons in the first half 29-2.
 
Missouri Western played better after halftime as they were able to scored four goals and they had seven shots on goal.  Madison Brady led the Griffs with three goals, while Iandoli and Karlin York had the other two. 
 
MWSU had a hard time with draw controls as UIndy won 29 of the 31.  They also had 24 ground balls to Missouri Western's 13, and both teams had 10 turnovers.  Mackenzie Porter registered eight saves in goal for the Griffons.
 
Missouri Western will be back in action Sunday as they entertain Lewis in a GLVC matchup at 12:00 p.m. inside Spratt Stadium.
